CliffCookClifford C. Cook

Mr. Cook is senior vice president of Supply, Distribution and Planning for Marathon Petroleum Company LLC. He joined Marathon in 1969 and was appointed to his current position in December 2001.

In January 2001, Mr. Cook was named vice president, Supply, Distribution and Planning for Marathon Ashland Petroleum Company LLC*. Effective January 1998, he became vice president, Operations Planning and Product Supply. In 1986 he moved from Denver, Colorado, to Findlay, Ohio, as manager, Crude Oil Supply for six months before assuming the position as manager of Operations Planning. He transferred to Denver as manager of the Denver crude oil office in 1984.

From 1978 to 1984 Mr. Cook moved into crude oil trading and acquisition in Houston, Texas, and London, United Kingdom, before returning to Findlay as manager of Foreign Crude Oil Supply.

After serving as an officer in the U.S. Navy from 1971 to 1975, Mr. Cook re-joined Marathon as an engineer and environmental coordinator for the Texas City, Texas, refinery. He began working for Marathon as a refinery engineer at the Detroit, Michigan, refinery in 1969.

Mr. Cook, a Battle Creek, Michigan, native, graduated with a bachelor's degree and a master's degree in chemical engineering from the University of Detroit in 1969 and 1970. In 1982, he received his master's degree in business administration from Boston University, Massachusetts.

In August 2000, Mr. Cook attended the 22nd Oxford energy seminar at St. Catherine's College in Oxford, United Kingdom. He participated in the University of Michigan, Michigan's, executive program in May 1999.

Mr. Cook is a member of the Findlay-Hancock County Chamber of Commerce, The University of Findlay board of trustees, chairman of the investment committee for The University of Findlay, President of St. Michael's Education Foundation and Parish Foundation, and a board member of Mascoma Corporation. He is active in various industry organizations such as the American Petroleum Institute and Society of Petroleum Engineers.

He is married with four children.
