HOWARD J. THILL

Howard J. Thill is vice president of Investor Relations and Public Affairs at Marathon Oil Corporation and serves as a member of Marathon's Executive Committee. He assumed his current position in January 2008.

Mr. Thill joined Marathon in 2002 as manager of Investor Relations and was appointed director of Investor Relations in 2003.

Prior to joining Marathon, he was director of Investor Relations with Phillips Petroleum Company. He began his career with Phillips in 1982 as a drilling fluids sales/service engineer. He subsequently held positions of increasing responsibility in natural gas operations, federal and international tax, chemical accounting and international finance.

Mr. Thill, a native of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, earned bachelor's degrees in accounting and marketing, as well as a master's degree in business administration from Oklahoma State University.

He is active in Junior Achievement and serves on the Houston Chapter's board of directors. Mr. Thill is a Certified Public Accountant and is active in the National Investor Relations Institute (NIRI), as well as Petroleum Investor Relations Association (PIRA), where he currently serves as treasurer. He also is active in the Oklahoma State University Alumni Association, having served as a past president of the Washington County (Oklahoma) chapter.
