External Partnerships
Being a good corporate citizen and leveraging external partnerships are integral to our business success and key components in our values.
Supplier Diversity Program
Maintaining a diverse supplier base that reflects the communities where we operate is part of Marathon’s global procurement strategy. Marathon utilizes our memberships in the National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC) and the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC) and their local agencies to assist in creating partnerships with minority and women-owned businesses in the U.S.

Corporate Development and Diversity Partnerships
Marathon’s Corporate Development and Diversity office supports and partners with related local and national organizations focused on civic, health and educational initiatives as well as the arts.
- Civic and Community Partnerships – Marathon is an active partner in every community where we operate, and we are committed to making a positive and lasting impact based on mutual trust and respect. We engage local civic and community organizations that work to improve conditions for people of different genders, ethnicities and beliefs. These partnerships also create opportunities to engage our workforce in areas of personal relevance, making our communities as well as our Company stronger.
- Higher Education Institutions and Programs – Leveraging partnerships with higher education institutions and organizations with the goal of increasing the number of women and people of color in technical and targeted disciplines is a key part of Marathon’s recruiting strategy. Supporting these efforts helps increase the available pool of talent for the Company and the industry.
- K-12 Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Initiative – Marathon recognizes the importance of engaging with students early in their education and works through our internal STEM Council to develop partnerships that provide grade K-12 students resources and exposure to careers in STEM fields. Many organizations and employees throughout Marathon participate by providing learning opportunities and volunteering their time to our STEM partners.
