ACCOUNTINGRESPONSIBILITIESAs an entry-level accountant, you will receive on-the-job training related to the dynamics of the oil industry, the specifics of your job assignment, and the use of various mainframe and PC-based software programs. Specific duties will include analyzing and processing of business documents into our automated financial reporting system for the purpose of creating management reports for review by the various business units. Additionally, you will be given the opportunity to work with a variety of departments outside of the accounting organization and will develop a collaborative relationship with those departments. As you progress in your career, additional responsibilities will be added. These include the analysis of accounting and financial data and the presentation of new ideas and concepts in formal meetings using PowerPoint and other technologies. Creative thought in enhancing existing accounting processes or in the development of new processes to enhance efficiency is encouraged. Also, as you progress, you will be given opportunities to work with and mentor less-experienced accountants or perhaps be given the opportunity to act as the lead analyst in an accounting section. The Controller's Organization is committed to developing accountants by providing them experience in as many areas of the business as practical. Accountants who have demonstrated exceptional proficiency will be eligible for opportunities within other areas of the Company where their analytical skills developed while in the Accounting organization can be put to good use in operational components of the business such as Marketing, Terminal and Transport, and Supply Distribution and Planning, just to name a few.
