MARKETING
BRAND TERRITORY MANAGER (TM)
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Primary Responsibility: Assist the company with achieving its stated mission through maximizing sales and customer satisfaction.
- Ethical Responsibility: The TM is responsible for maintaining and upholding the high ethical, health, environment and safety standards set forth by MPC.
- Managerial Responsibility: TM has no direct supervisory responsibility; however, is responsible for some asset management within their territory.

Recruitment & Selection: This consists of seeking out individuals who have the potential to be Marathon Dealers/Sellers and Jobbers, operating their own businesses under the Marathon Brand name.

Coaching & Counseling: This consists of working with professional entrepreneurs in the development of their businesses.

Territory Management: Each TM has responsibility for the general operations of an assigned territory. This would include, but is not limited to budgeting, account maintenance, asset development, prospecting and expense control.

Advertising & Promotion: Territory Managers are responsible for developing unique advertising and promotional opportunities for customers within their territory. In addition, a TM is responsible for the successful implementation of all corporate advertising messages and promotional campaigns.

Customer Relations: The TM assists the customer service department with the resolution of customer complaints. In addition to customer service issues, the TM is responsible for taking pro-active steps to ensure that complaints are kept at a minimum.
Travel Requirements:
Modest overnight travel by air and ground transportation as required for periodic meetings, training and customer visits.
The Territory Manager will complete up to a 16-week field and corporate office training program designed to provide a broad exposure to the activities of our Marketing Organization. Upon completion of training, the individual will be assigned a territory serving as a Territory Manager and business counselor for independent businesses. Responsibilities include marketing of gasoline, fuel oils, motor oils, lubricants and related products.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Desired majors: Marketing preferred, open to other business majors.
- Students must have a minimum of a 3.0 GPA.

PROGRAM TERRITORY MANAGER (PTM)
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Primary Responsibility: The PTM is to function as the key link between the Brand Division's Business Development organization and the Brand Marketing Districts. This role is to assist the company with the continued evolution of Brand by supporting value added non-fuel support programs in the field through customer interaction.
- Ethical Responsibility: The PTM is responsible for maintaining and upholding the high ethical, health, environment and safety standards set forth by MPC.
- Managerial Responsibility: PTM has no direct supervisory responsibility.
- Additional Responsibilities:
- Develop and coordinate specific strategies and tactics
- Be the primary resource to support site rollout of specific Brand Marketing Programs
- Develop plans for and implement programs to achieve year-on-year volume growth amongst program participants who have been in each program greater than one year, including developing a support network for participants to provide training, promotion suggestions and refresher materials
- Be the program enrollee interface
- Identify various customer segments and the marketing strategy for each segment to be used by TMs and Interns in support of targeted prospect engagement
- Be the first contact point for vendor performance issues, program implementation at specific sites, non-compliance management, and related supply ordering
- Become knowledgeable regarding competitor programs
- Develop and deliver training modules for merchandising, category management, site execution and traffic growth.

ASPHALT TERRITORY MANAGER
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Primary Responsibility: To evaluate, promote and recommend market strategies relating to Asphalt and Heavy Oil products, which optimize financial results throughout the system versus market alternatives. This will be achieved through implementation of division/region goals and by developing a series of both internal and external customer relationships.
- Ethical Responsibility: The TM is responsible for maintaining and upholding the high ethical, health, environment and safety standards set forth by MPC.
- Managerial Responsibility: TM has no direct supervisory responsibility.
- Customer Relations: The TM will develop innovative methods to address our customer's needs, establish responsive customer relationships, promoting our asphalt products, services and policies while resolving critical business issues.
- Strong Communication Skills/ Teamwork: Asphalt Marketing utilizes a Business Unit "team approach" to develop market strategies. The TM, as an integral part of this team, will work closely with representatives from various departments in deriving strategic business recommendations. This team will utilize cross-functional communication of market intelligence information to optimize both profitability and asset utilization.
- Technical Expertise: TMs must gather and maintain a high degree of technology knowledge of asphalt products and their related operational issues. Continuous training and active involvement in trade organizations are required.
- Project Analysis Skills: The TM has the responsibility to identify and assist in the analysis of asset development projects. This responsibility would include completing market assessments, aligning the project with market strategies and providing margin or profitability estimates to be used in financial modeling.
Travel Requirements: Modest overnight travel by air and ground transportation as required for periodic meetings, training and customer visits.
The TM will complete up to a 10-week field and corporate office training program designed to provide a broad exposure to the activities of our Marketing Organization. Upon completion of training, the TM will be assigned a territory. Responsibilities include maximizing MPC profitability and sales volumes through the use of strong negotiating skills required in a competitive marketplace.

WHOLESALE TERRITORY MANAGER
RESPONSIBILITIES
Travel Requirements: Modest overnight travel by air and ground transportation as required for periodic meetings, training and customer visits.
The Territory Manager will complete up to a 12-week field and corporate office training program designed to provide a broad exposure to the activities of our Marketing Organization. Upon completion of training, the individual will be assigned a territory.

REAL ESTATE REPRESENTATIVE
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Primary Responsibility: Assist the company in achieving its stated mission by providing real estate services to MPC's Marketing Division, Speedway SuperAmerica and Marathon Oil Company.
- Ethical Responsibility: The representative is responsible for maintaining and upholding the high ethical, health, environment and safety standards set forth by MPC.
- Managerial Responsibility: A Real Estate representative has no direct supervisory responsibility, however is responsible for asset management within a defined geographic area.
- Specific Job Responsibilities:
- Identify and negotiate contracts on property acquisitions to support growth via new marketing facilities.
- Create value for surplus sites and facilities by negotiating attractive sales or leases.
- Manage assets within defined territory including maintenance, expense control, security, easements and right of way takings.
- Negotiate lease extensions and renewals for operating facilities while maintaining good relationships with lessors.
- Maintain awareness of property sales and actions of competitors, accurately appraise properties and communicate competitive conditions within territory.
- Prepare contracts and agreements dealing with sales, acquisitions, leases, and other property transactions. Understand environmental regulations and issues in a territory related to company assets.
Travel Requirements: Modest overnight travel in assigned territory and to attend periodic real estate meetings.
A Real Estate representative will complete up to a 16-week field and corporate training program designed to provide a broad exposure to the activities of the Marketing Organization. Upon completion of training, the individual will be assigned a Midwest territory.

- Students must have a minimum of a 3.0 GPA.
- Hiring Locations: Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, or West Virginia.
SPECIAL PRODUCTS PRODUCT MANAGER (PM)
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Primary Responsibility: To evaluate, promote and recommend market strategies relating to Special Products, which optimize financial results throughout the system versus market alternatives. - Managerial Responsibility: PM has no direct supervisory responsibility.
- Specific Job Responsibilities:
- Develop, negotiate, implement and manage all sales and supply contracts.
- Coordinate sales, supply and forecasting by working closely with customers, refinery personnel, blending/shipping, logistics, customer service, and others as necessary to provide uninterrupted supply and sales.
- Manage daily customer/supplier commercial activities including pricing, billing, contract administration, product quality, logistics and credit.
- Follow and understand the daily market and associated trends to develop and manage pricing strategies and policies that meet market conditions and maximize long-term profitability.
- Develop, implement and update a strategic marketing plan including short and long-term objectives to profitably expand the business where appropriate.
- Develop creative and innovative strategies for the growth, development and marketing of special products and services.
- Direct new and/or improved product/service offerings including introduction strategies, advertising, product literature, trade show participation and other marketing channels.
- Support business development initiatives; participate in refinery business teams and other cross-functional teams as needed.
- Actively participate in industry associates and attend conferences as appropriate.

The Product Manager will complete up to 4 weeks of orientation and job shadowing designed to provide a broad exposure to the activities of our Marketing Organization and to learn specific details regarding the Special Products organization. Upon completion, the individual will be assigned full-time responsibilities within Special Products.

ASPHALT SCHEDULER (Schedule)
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Primary Responsibility: Scheduler is responsible for the coordination and efficient movement of asphalt and heavy oil products for MPC to balance refinery production capability with customer demand and competitive market factors.
- Ethical Responsibility: Scheduler is responsible for maintaining and upholding the high ethical, health, environment and safety standards set forth by MPC.
- Managerial Responsibility: Scheduler has no direct supervisory responsibility.
- Specific Job Responsibilities:
- Develop improved scheduling methods designed to better utilize company assets in order to reduce working capital and minimize transportation costs.
- Negotiate with pipeline, rail, barge and tanker schedulers and dispatchers for appropriate timing, batch size and sequence of shipments and deliveries in order to optimize the available refinery and terminal inventories to minimize handling costs and contamination.
- Monitor inventories on a daily basis and adjust shipping schedules to avoid runouts and containment issues. Total system inventories are located at seven refineries, 60-80 terminals, 10-15 pipeline systems, as well as ocean-going, Great Lakes and river barges.
- Arrange for the use of third party transportation and negotiate for the loading of products for the efficient movement of product by non-MPC personnel.
- Obtain revised operating information and marketing forecasts to update the factors used in computer evaluation programs and update delivery schedules in response to changes.
- Participate in negotiating the settlement of claims against carriers.
- Arrange with exchange and terminaling customers to make bulk shipments and receipts necessary to maintain desired exchange balances and proper inventories for terminaling customers.
- Coordinate communication between terminals and Marketing on any inventory or operational challenges.
Travel Requirements: Minimal overnight travel by air and ground transportation as required for periodic meetings, training and customer visits.
The Scheduler will complete up to an 8-week field and corporate office training program designed to provide a broad exposure to the activities of our Marketing Organization. Upon completion of training, the Scheduler will be assigned a full-time position within Asphalt and Heavy Oil Marketing.

MARKETING ANALYST (Analyst)
RESPONSIBILITIES
Travel Requirements: Minimal, if any, travel will be required.
An Analyst will complete up to an 8-week field and corporate training program designed to provide a broad exposure to the activities of the Marketing Organization. The training will contain the appropriate concentration relative to the Marketing organization the analyst is assigned at the onset of training.

- Students must have a minimum of a 3.0 GPA.
