Oklahoma

Marathon has been actively involved in exploration and production in Oklahoma for more than 70 years. The Company has well-established production in the Anadarko Basin from operations including the Cement, Huntley, Knox and Ammunition fields.

Targeting deep gas reserves, Marathon had discoveries in the Marlow Field in Stephens County, Cement Field in Caddo County and the Elk City area in Beckham County.

Marathon acquired more than 30,000 net undeveloped acres in key strategic exploration projects along the Wichita Mt. Front and the Deep Anadarko Basin. In 2007, Marathon's exploration program resulted in six new discoveries in the Wichita Mt. Front and Deep Anadarko Basin. These discoveries and initial delineation of the Rocky area northwestward currently contribute approximately 25 mmcfd net sales and expose Marathon to approximately 8 to 12 mmboe of net discovered risked resource opportunity.

In 2008, 30 gross (12 net) exploration wells focused in the Deep Anadarko Basin are planned, with participation in more than 50 development wells throughout the state. Drilling activity will continue to be focused in the Deep Anadarko Basin, targeting multiple pay objectives defined by 3-D seismic technology. The Company is also positioned with a significant acreage position in the core of the emerging Woodford Shale play in the Anadarko Basin.
