Methanol

Marathon owns a 45 percent interest in the Atlantic Methanol Production Company LLC (AMPCO) Equatorial Guinea methanol plant, which supplies customers in Europe and the United States. The plant converts approximately 130 million cubic feet per day of natural gas into methanol and has a gross capacity of approximately 3,000 tons per day. Like liquefied natural gas (LNG), methanol is an efficient way of developing and transporting stranded natural gas to growing markets.

Marathon and its partners in the plant plan to complete an expansion project later in 2007 that will increase capacity to approximately 3,250 tons per day.
