Employees and contractors at our Brae platform add profitable production from the North Sea. Other core regions include the U.S., Canada and Equatorial Guinea.

Marathon is the operator of 11 concessions in Poland totaling approximately 1.2 million net acres (2.3 million gross), with shale gas potential. The shales are Lower Paleozoic and may be the most significant opportunity for unconventional gas in central Europe. This impact exploration asset gives Marathon an opportunity to apply the expertise we have gained in major U.S. shale plays.
In April 2011, we announced that Nexen Inc. acquired a 40 percent working interest in 10 of our 11 concessions.
The Company began drilling operations in the Ćeczna and Siedlce districts in the fourth quarter of 2011, with plans to drill seven to eight wells by the end of 2012. Marathon and its partners are in the early stages of exploring and evaluating the full potential of these significant holdings.
Marathon’s commitment to the community is deeply rooted in our core values. Our employee-run Books for Bioko program collects supplies for schools in Equatorial Guinea.
