Employees and contractors at our Brae platform add profitable production from the North Sea. Other core regions include the U.S., Canada and Equatorial Guinea.

Marathon has almost 100 years of experience in exploration and development in Wyoming and is the state's number one oil producer. In 2010, 26 percent of the Company's U.S. liquid hydrocarbon sales and 28 percent of our U.S. natural gas sales came from this important base asset.
We continue to be a leading performer in enhancing oil recovery from fractured carbonate and sandstone reservoirs in mature Bighorn Basin and Wind River Basin fields.
In addition, Marathon has conventional gas operations in the Greater Green River Basin of southwest Wyoming and holds 90,000 net acres in Wyoming's coalbed natural gas resources in the Sheridan area of the Powder River Basin, most of which we operate.
In 2010, Marathon began leasing in the emerging liquids-rich Niobrara Shale play in the DJ Basin. We hold approximately 177,000 net acres in the DJ Basin in northern Colorado and southeast Wyoming. The Niobrara Formation, long known as an oil target, now is being exploited by new horizontal drilling and stage hydraulic fracturing completion techniques developed in the Bakken and other resource plays.
In early 2011, Marathon assigned a 30 percent undivided working interest in our acreage position in the Niobrara Shale play to Marubeni Denver Julesburg LLC.
Marathon’s commitment to the community is deeply rooted in our core values. Our employee-run Books for Bioko program collects supplies for schools in Equatorial Guinea.
