Marathon Oil has more than 100 years of experience in exploration and development in Wyoming and is the state's number one oil producer. In 2012, 16 percent of the Company's U.S. liquid hydrocarbon sales and 19 percent of our U.S. natural gas sales came from this important base asset.

We continue to be a leading performer in enhancing oil recovery from fractured carbonate and sandstone reservoirs in mature Bighorn Basin and Wind River Basin fields.

Marathon Oil has conventional gas operations in the Greater Green River Basin of Southwest Wyoming, primarily in the Wamsutter Field. The Company holds 74,000 net acres in Wyoming’s coalbed natural gas resources in the Sheridan area of the Powder River Basin, most of which it operates, and 70,000 net acres of deep rights in the Fairway area. Over the next two years, the Company plans to plug and abandon over 600 wells in the Powder River Basin as operations wind down.

Marathon also holds acreage in the DJ Basin in southeastern Wyoming, where the emerging Niobrara Shale play is located.
