Marathon Equatorial Guinea Production Ltd (MEGPL) recently achieved two significant safety milestones: three million hours without a lost-time injury as of Dec. 31, 2010, and one million hours without a recordable injury as of Jan. 6, 2011.
"The achievement of these milestones is the result of each team member making safety a priority in our everyday activities," said Ken Woodworth, resident manager. "Achieving multi-million hours without a lost-time injury is a commonly used benchmark of safety excellence. However, in my opinion, achieving more than one million hours without a recordable injury is a much more rigorous challenge and is a more accurate indicator of outstanding safety performance."
The Company's safety goal that "No One Gets Hurt Today" means that performance is measured each and every day. Maintaining world class safety performance has been - and will continue to be - a challenging goal.
"It also emphasizes that we must never become complacent," added Woodworth. "The nature of our operations requires that we stay focused and strive to continually improve our HES performance."
Marathon’s commitment to the community is deeply rooted in our core values. Our employee-run Books for Bioko program collects supplies for schools in Equatorial Guinea.
