Employees and contractors at our Brae platform add profitable production from the North Sea. Other core regions include the U.S., Canada and Equatorial Guinea.

Through investments in new environmental controls and improved operating procedures, Marathon continues to emphasize minimization of emissions, wastes and releases from our operations.
In 2009, Marathon's environmental capital expenditures were $399 million. Environmental operation and maintenance costs in 2009 were $373 million. Another $29 million was spent on remediation projects. We use American Petroleum Institute survey guidelines to determine environmental expenditures.
Marathon’s commitment to the community is deeply rooted in our core values. Our employee-run Books for Bioko program collects supplies for schools in Equatorial Guinea.
