Employees and contractors at our Brae platform add profitable production from the North Sea. Other core regions include the U.S., Canada and Equatorial Guinea.

As part of our social investment strategy, in 2010 we will introduce community development guidelines for operating units to promote responsible interactions and provide direction on building sustainable programs, as well as begin training internal CSR champions on these guidelines and related tools.
Philanthropy also is an integral part of Marathon's business and social investment strategies. We support non-profit organizations that focus on education and training, health and human service issues, and protecting and conserving natural resources, habitats and environments.
Social investments in 2009 totaled approximately $32 million. Grants and corporate contributions were $10.5 million, and employee/customer and vendor giving was $7 million. Total sustainable investments were $14.5 million.
Marathon’s commitment to the community is deeply rooted in our core values. Our employee-run Books for Bioko program collects supplies for schools in Equatorial Guinea.
