Employees and contractors at our Brae platform add profitable production from the North Sea. Other core regions include the U.S., Canada and Equatorial Guinea.

Marathon business units, facilities and departments champion selected organizations. Here, we highlight a few examples of employees giving back to their communities.
Teaching Our Youth Science (TOYS) trains teachers how to use toys and everyday household items to teach chemistry and physics to elementary and middle school students. Making science fun and accessible encourages more children to study chemistry and physics in high school and beyond.
The Catlettsburg refinery has hosted TOYS training in its facilities for five years, covering costs for Miami University instructors and program books, supplies and toys. In 2009, 27 teachers from 22 schools in three states attended the five-day program. Participants taught more than 2,500 children during the school year and passed along their knowledge to fellow teachers.
The Marketing & Transportation Engineering (M&TE) department in Findlay, Ohio, formed a committee in 2008 to organize community service opportunities. Their goal is to provide benefits to the community on a continuous basis and build department camaraderie.
In 2009, M&TE employees contributed more than 1,500 volunteer hours and $15,000 in food, household goods, gifts and monetary contributions. They impacted 1,600 people directly and thousands more indirectly through Habitat for Humanity, Hope House, Engineering Explorers, Chopin Hall, Friends of Santa, Salvation Army and Historical Riverside Train.
Marathon employees in Indianapolis, Indiana, and Findlay actively support Clothe-A-Child, a nonprofit organization that helps disadvantaged children.
Indianapolis employees created Clothe-a-Child more than 60 years ago. The scope has expanded from providing clothing to fulfilling educational needs. Using funds raised by parking cars during the Indianapolis 500 and Brickyard 500 auto races and other activities, Marathon impacted more than 3,000 children in 2009. We donated educational computer software, projectors and other learning enhancement items to three local schools and provided financial support to community centers.
Clothe-a-Child expanded to Findlay in 1992. Employees initially donated clothing to 25 children during the holiday season. Today, it is a year-round initiative managed entirely by Marathon workers and benefiting approximately 400 children identified by local schools and social service agencies.
Employee volunteers raised nearly $45,000 for Clothe-A-Child in 2009. Because community volunteers donate hundreds of hours to the effort, 100 percent of the funds raised are used to purchase clothing for children in northwest Ohio.
Marathon’s commitment to the community is deeply rooted in our core values. Our employee-run Books for Bioko program collects supplies for schools in Equatorial Guinea.
