Workforce
Marathon seeks to create sustainable value through a safe and healthy workplace, a high performance team culture and a collaborative environment where individuals and teams can perform to their fullest professional potential.
Where We Are
- Upstream and Downstream are in the third and second quartiles in their safety comparator groups, respectively, based on the 2009 Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR). SSA has improved its TRIR year-over-year for the last three years.
- Implementing our ongoing Process Safety Management (PSM) Improvement Plan, tracking reportable process safety incidents (RPSI) and near misses, and monitoring leading and lagging indicators. Using incident investigations to focus improvements and corrective actions aimed at reducing risks.
- Strengthening recruiting by maintaining and developing relationships with key educational and professional organizations.
- Focusing on employee development and succession planning processes.
Where We Want To Be
- Striving for continuous improvement to achieve and maintain top quartile safety performance, including process safety management, within the industry.
- Recruiting, hiring and promoting the most qualified candidates while diversifying the workforce. Ensuring training and developmental opportunities are available to further enhance diversity composition of Marathon's workforce in professional and managerial positions.
- Strengthening local workforce capabilities in support of business requirements.
Continuing to build capacity and measure progress globally.
What We Are Doing To Get There
Marathon’s commitment to the community is deeply rooted in our core values. Our employee-run Books for Bioko program collects supplies for schools in Equatorial Guinea.
