Employees and contractors at our Brae platform add profitable production from the North Sea. Other core regions include the U.S., Canada and Equatorial Guinea.

Marathon is building a diverse workforce because we believe a variety of ideas, opinions and problem-solving styles leads to stronger solutions. Our goal is to recruit, hire and promote the most qualified candidates while diversifying our workforce, and ensure that training and developmental opportunities are available to further enhance the diversity composition in professional and managerial positions.
One of our challenges is recruiting and retaining new and experienced professionals to meet our needs for specific skills in technical fields. We partner with minority-serving educational and professional organizations and institutions to increase access to diverse recruits. We are using online resources and social networking to reach a wide variety of candidates. Additional efforts are in place to increase women and minority participation in Marathon development and leadership programs.
Approximately 33 percent of our U.S. workforce (excluding SSA) will be eligible for retirement as of December 31, 2010. We are addressing the need to transfer knowledge from experienced to newer employees.
Employee training and development plans may include temporary assignments and projects to build skills and technical competencies, deepen knowledge and expertise, and learn best practices. Technical communities of practice and organization- and function-specific training programs target employees' developmental needs.
Marathon’s commitment to the community is deeply rooted in our core values. Our employee-run Books for Bioko program collects supplies for schools in Equatorial Guinea.
