Employees and contractors at our Brae platform add profitable production from the North Sea. Other core regions include the U.S., Canada and Equatorial Guinea.

Marathon promotes the International Labour Organization (ILO) Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work. We have labor practices in place worldwide to ensure that our employees are accorded the four fundamental rights asserted in the Declaration:
Approximately 13 percent of Marathon employees in the U.S. are represented by a labor union. Two facilities are represented by the International Brotherhood of Teamsters. Three facilities are represented by the United Steel, Paper and Forestry, Rubber, Manufacturing, Energy, Allied Industrial and Service Workers Union (USW). One is represented by the Service Employees International Union (SEIU).
The two USW union locals at the Catlettsburg refinery agreed in 2009 to merge. They adopted one collective bargaining agreement that extended their existing agreement to January 31, 2012.
The Teamsters at the St. Paul Park refinery agreed to a three-year extension on their current contract to May 31, 2012. SEIU at Wood River, Illinois, extended their current contract to January 31, 2013. New labor contracts were ratified at the Canton and Texas City refineries that will expire on January 31, 2012, and March 31, 2012, respectively.
Marathon’s commitment to the community is deeply rooted in our core values. Our employee-run Books for Bioko program collects supplies for schools in Equatorial Guinea.
