Stakeholder Engagement in Poland

SR-2010LOV_InlineImage-SocioEconomic-StakeholderEngagement A strategic stakeholder engagement process is under way in Poland, where Marathon has acquired concessions across 2.3 million acres. Shale exploration activities are planned to begin in 2011.

We have identified more than 2,000 stakeholders and believe building relationships with government officials, communities and landowners is critical to our success in this asset. Marathon's local team has initiated individual, small group and town hall engagements to better understand stakeholder concerns and how they might be addressed. Potential issues that we may face in Poland include road infrastructure, water consumption, contractor availability and negative perceptions about the industry and shale operations.
