Communities in Schools

March, 2020 — Houston

In an effort to help Houston children to stay in school, Marathon Oil contributes to Communities in Schools (CIS) Houston and it’s on-campus support. CIS surrounds at risk students on 159 Houston area campuses with a community of support that empowers them to stay in school and achieve in life. In 2019, CIS served over 120,000 students and referred almost 270,000 to community agencies.

The CIS Mental Health Initiative has addressed growing needs in partner schools by giving almost 7,000 students the support and tools they need to stay in school.

Our donations help fund:

Supportive guidance and counseling
Academic support
Health and human services
College and career readiness
Parent and family engagement
Enrichment activities

For more than a decade we've had the privilege to support CIS in their mission to keep children in school. In 2019, in response to a request from CIS for more school supplies, we rallied our employees for a school drive.
