Invested in Our Communities
Earning our license to operate
Marathon Oil is proud to play a role in maintaining U.S. energy security and fueling the world in which we live.
As we produce the energy the world needs, MRO works to further the environmental, social and governance progress of our business and the sustainability of our communities.
On an annual basis we share our nonfinancial performance in our Sustainability Report with a focus on verifiable data, and examples of how we advance our business while living our values across all operations. This report demonstrates our accountability for addressing risks and running a responsible, safe and ethical business.
Here are just a few things we’re proud of from 2018
In 2018, safety leadership engagements, training and strong contractor management resulted in a 17% decline in recordable incidents, our main safety performance indicator.
Over the last five years, our methane intensity declined 31%, largely due to meeting our internal goal of eliminating routine use of high-bleed pneumatic controllers.
Our social investment strategy aims to enhance the quality of life in communities where our employees live and work.
