Congrats to our 2021 GRIT Awards Finalists and Winners!

November, 2021 — Houston, TX

We'd like to congratulate our 2021 GRIT Awards finalists and winners! This year, MRO was a nominated at the company, team/group, and individual level.

At the company level, the Best Energy Workplaces Award honors those companies who are boldly stepping up to co-create safe and inclusive spaces. Eligible companies are the ones who have a deep vision of an energy future that will positively impact the world.

Teams or affinity groups who embrace inclusion and collaboration, people who understand the value of working together for the greater good, are nominated in the Group category. Both of our nominated Employee Resource Groups went on to win in the Best Teams category: Black Employees & Allies at Marathon Oil (BEAM) and the Marathon Oil Women's Network!

The Women’s Network and BEAM partner together on several initiatives and proposals to help with shifting behaviors and mindsets by communicating top of mind feedback from our ERG members to Executive Sponsors and Senior Leadership. This communication channel ensures underrepresented groups have a voice and allows us to raise awareness of relevant issues. We know our collective voices are more influential together and empowers us to be a community that helps promote a more diverse, inclusive and equitable workplace. Receiving a GRIT Award acknowledges & celebrates our teamwork & partnership to leverage our collective voice as the trusted resource on shared interests or concerns important to our ERG members.
Jenny Harrison, Enterprise Process Solutions Team Project Lead

Individuals are nominated in the categories of: Professional, Executive, Entrepreneur/Start-up, Ally, and Sustainability and Climate Champion. MRO talent was celebrated at the individual level this year, with our very own Heather Mueck and Tara West named as winners!

Receiving a GRIT award acknowledges our hard work to achieve extraordinary results, which don’t always come easy. Our work require us to take calculated risks and dig deep within ourselves and our teams, to be bold, push forward, and deliver results. I am extremely proud of the work my team has delivered around recycling water for hydraulic stimulation in the Bakken. We’re not only setting the bar within the basin, we’re sharing our knowledge with peers to help propel our entire industry forward.
Tara West, Completions Manager
